ANNUAL CARDOZO SOCIETY DINNER
Each year, The Twin Cities Cardozo Society has a dinner to honor outstanding members of our community. This is one of the largest legal events of the year, with over 400 people attending, including lawyers, judges, politicians, spiritual leaders, and community executives. At the dinner, we recognize our annual Sidney Barrows Lifetime Commitment Award recipients and our Arthur T. Pfefer Memorial Award Young Leadership recipient.

The Arthur T. Pfefer Memorial Award
Every year, the Cardozo Society presents the Arthur T. Pfefer Memorial Award to a Jewish law student or young lawyer who has demonstrated outstanding leadership potential and commitment to serving the community. This award honors the memory of Arthur Pfefer, z”l, an aspiring St. Paul lawyer who was killed while serving our country in the Vietnam War.
Recipients are Jewish lawyers and law students age 35 or under who have already demonstrated accomplishment and show great scholarly, professional, and philanthropic potential.

The Sidney Barrows Lifetime Commitment Award
The Sidney Barrows Lifetime Commitment Award, the Cardozo Society’s highest honor, was created 23 years ago in memory of Sidney Barrows, a founding chair of the Twin Cities Cardozo Society. It is given annually to a senior attorney or judge in the Twin Cities who exemplifies excellence in legal practice, service to the Jewish and general communities, and commitment to life-long learning.
Once a year, we invite attorneys, judges, and community leaders to nominate the attorney or judge they feel is most deserving of this award. The nomination committee would like to consider any honors and awards, special certifications and licenses, professional activity and standing, community service activity, pro bono work, Jewish communal leadership, and commitment to education and mentorship. Please include any of this information that you are aware of in the nomination.
Nominate a candidate for the Sydney Barrows award

Community impact as a result of her or his volunteer contributions in the Jewish community and in the general community.
Demonstration of sustained commitment to meeting general and Jewish community needs.
Utilization of innovative, creative, and effective approaches to meeting community needs.
